The SouthEast Rotax Super Series was
formed as a Rotax requirement. Instead of just fulfilling the
obligations of the Rotax requirements Rick Sweeting, owner of Raceway
Motorsports, Georgia's only authorized Service Center, decided to
utilize his many years of karting experience which includes being first
a kart racer, kart shop owner, chassis manufacturer, engine builder and
kart track owner to promote a more diverse series. Being in the
sport of karting since 1972, Rick has the belief that a series like the
SERSS is needed to better prepare a karter to make the transition from
the local to national level.
2010 SouthEast
Rotax Super Series Directors
SERIES DIRECTOR - RICK SWEETING
Rick brings over thirty five years of
karting experience to the series. Rick is one of a select few
people in the sport of karting to actually have a hand in every aspect
of karting, starting as a racer, then shop owner, chassis builder,
engine builder and track owner, there isn't an area he has not
experienced.
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS - BOB LEFFERDO
Bob brings over twenty years of
karting experience to SERSS. Bob started karting at the Desert Park
Raceway in 1988, in the yamaha class and ending in the shifter class.
Bob was involved in the karting business as co-owner of Speed & Sport
Kart Werks, Reno NV. While operating his full service shop Bob held
several positions with the Northern Nevada Kart Club, including being
President. While holding the position of President the club grew
from 75 members to over 200. In 2000 his position with Porsche
Cars North America brought him to Atlanta, when in 2007 he began karting
with his son, Nick. Bob was elected to GSKA President in 2009, and
again his efforts helped the club to grow. 2010 brings a new
challenge as the growth of SERSS will be in Bob's hands.
RACE DIRECTOR - CARL COTTRELL
Carl has been the Race Director since the
inception of SERSS. Carl has worked tirelessly to help build the SERSS into
the successful series it is today. Carl has been rewarded for his
efforts by being invited to the 2008 Rotax World Championships held in
Italy.
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR - DALE SEELEY
Dale brings a wealth of knowledge to the
position of Technical Director. As a competitor Dale has spent a
lot of time on the other side of the tech table. Dale's desire to
insure a fair and equal event made his decision to accept the position
an easy one. Being an engineer at his day job as well as the
karting director for the SCCA solo 2 Atlanta division Dale understands
the importance of having the technical side of the series enforced
fairly and is ready to take on the task.
